The Farm

4 generations of peasant tradition

Rural Atmosphere

The best of the Valley

Murtoli's primary vocation lies in its farming activity. This agropastoral work is carried out with respect to the environment and its natural pace, to meet our daily needs and to offer our guests premium natural products such as honey, meat, vegetables, fruits, wood, flowers, and much more.

Farming operations

Respect the seasonal rythm of nature

The sound of tractors coming in from the fields.
The upcoming hay harvest heralds the return of fine weather. In every season, the harvest rolls on.
Pruning the olive trees, picking the 5 endemic olive varieties before pressing the oil.
Autumn brings grazing and ploughing, berry and mushroom picking and, in winter, woodcutting, tangerine harvesting and vegetable garden weeding.

Pastoral work

Free-range animals

The Valley was the domain of shepherds and it remains so. Our unique concept is based on the Ferme du Domaine, the essential source of all the meat served on our Tables.
For the last 30 years, we've been raising our animals with respect for tradition, opting for sustainable, extensive farming. Our Corsican and Aubrac cattle and lambs enjoy 6000 acres of free-range pasture, perfectly integrated into the landscape.
In addition to livestock production, the Farm also boasts a large vegetable garden and orchard, which provide us with vegetables, fruit and herbs, hundreds of olive trees for the production of our oils, vineyards and, last but not least, honey, the treasure of our maquis.
What a pleasure it is for our guests to visit the garden in the morning and pick their vegetables.

Garden's activities

Behind the garden gate

Between rosemary and basil, the strawberries begin to blush. Aubergines blossom, purple in the green. Courgettes abound. Tomato bunches are beginning to ripen and beef hearts to swell. Later come squash, cabbage and winter vegetables, followed by lemons and mandarins bursting with vitamins. Baskets are available to serve you.

Cheese made from ewe's milk

In the centuries-old tradition

Whether it's called Brocciu, Brocciu Passu or Tome, the cheese made at Murtoli comes from ewes. A flock of 500 animals graze peacefully every day, finding their nourishing soil on the estate.
The Corsican breed, a mainstay of the island's agropastoral life, has been bred for centuries for milk production and cheese processing.
Ferme de Murtoli produces fresh A.O.P. Brocciu, A.O.P. Brocciu Passu - lightly matured brocciu - and smoked Tome Sartenaise, traditionally rubbed with olive oil by our shepherds, left to mature in our cellars for 6 to 12 months.

Honey

Treasure of the Farm

Our spring honey is harvested from vast stretches of maquis, from the sea to the mountains. It features all the complexity of maquis flowers, mainly white heather, sea lavender and broom.

Autumn honey, harvested from November onwards from the coast to the mountains, is composed mainly of arbutus associated with ivy, sarsaparilla, slimy inula... Its bitterness and woody aroma make it a highly distinctive honey.

Vineyards

The Domaine's wine project

Our 10-hectare vineyard, nestled in a unique natural environment with varied soils : granite, calco-alkaline monzogranite, sand, and coastal sandstone will see its first bottling in 2025.

Guided by nature’s rhythms, we cultivate our vines using biodynamic principles. This approach enhances each terroir and grape variety (Sciaccarellu, Vermentinu, Biancu Gentile, Grenache, Minustellu) while maintaining the balance between soil, plant, and environment.

Prophylaxis, at the heart of our method, naturally prevents diseases by strengthening the connection between the vine, the earth, and cosmic cycles.
